Ruins of a major former roman Fort. For the most part only the wall bases are visible.

Very atmospheric and picturesque. Great little museum. Usually very cold and windy. Come prepared!

Arrived to the visitors centre and paid £4 parking, which is fine. But then the visitors centre was closed. They do advertise this so that's on us. However, there are no toilets whatsoever. Then it's £9 per person to go into the ruins... No comfort facilities and the nearest toilet is a long drive away. Would not recommend. The fort was fine.

It's alright there is better historical places to visit in the UK for the money. But I did go when it was freezing. If your in the area please vist, but don't go out your way

On a slightly chilly but gloriously sunny day, you could feel the history and hear the Romans working and conversing. Very atmospheric. The little museum on sight fills in the gaps we didn't learn at school. We were in awe at the engineering involved in it's creation, with underfloor heating and flushing lavatories. A large car park with number plate recognition and a cafe/ restaurant on site. It's an up hill hike along a well maintained path, so you need to reasonably able bodied but great views once achieved.

Very welcoming and the museum is fascinating! Taught me and the kids loads! Very visual which is amazing. The walk along Hadrians wall is lovely too. Can't wait to do it again in less rain!

Roman Fort along Hardian's Wall. You can walk around the outside for free and there is a small visitors shop where you can buy tickets to enter the fort (free if you are national trust member). There is a portaloo nearby. You can take dogs in and have a walk around. Probably takes 30 mins or so to have a good look at it all. Great place.

A good starting point for a visit to a Roman fort and the wall, with the sycamore gap a couple of miles away. You will need to pay for parking and entrance to the fort if you are visiting so it can be a bit pricey if there are a few of you as we paid over £10 each to get in, which I would say is too much for what is there. English Heritage and National Trust members are free to explore the fort and museum. The museum is small but has lots of information and a short video that explains the history of the area. A few of the information signs are badly weathered and a couple completely unreadable which is a shame to miss out on the information and bad for accessibility, probably wouldn't cost much to replace and given the high entrance fee, they can afford it. The toilets by the carpark were locked and the cafe closed. I appreciate the cafe not being open in low season but the toilets should still be open as they are separate to the cafe.

Car park is a rip off! £4 for 3 hours, no other option. We were only there fot 1 and a half hours. Even members need to pay. Dogs not allowed in shop. The ruins were good and well kept

An amazing old Roman fort. Lots of the structures are still there. It’s the best preserved Roman fort in Britain apparently.
